The Costa Blanca south, for the purposes of this webpage is the area, towns and villages to the south of Alicante, up to the border with the Murcia region, taking in a number of inland towns and villages, including some which may actually be in the Murcia region.
Starting in the extreme south on the coast and just on the border with Murcia is the coastal town of El Mojon, close by is the town of Pilar de la Horadada and its coastal area Torre de la Horadada. Following the coast you will find the area called the Orihuela Costa with resorts south to north beginning with Mil Palmeras (One Thousand Palms) with its sandy beach Riomar, Dehesa de Campoamor with several sandy beaches, Cabo Roig a popular resort with beaches Cala Caleta and Cala Capitan. Carrying on up the Orihuela Costa gets you to La Zenia with 2 fabulous sandy beaches on either side of the La Zenia Hotel, then comes Playa Flamenca, again with 2 beaches and finally for the Orihuela Costa comes Punta Prima. In the urbanizations of the Orihuela Costa you will find Zeniamar, a very nice complex, Los Dolses, Los Balcones, La Florida and Los Altos, plus the golf urbanizations of Villamartin, Campoamor and Las Ramblas.
The next big town along the coast is Torrevieja followed closely by La Mata (also called Torre La Mata), both Torrevieja and La Mata are popular tourist resorts and both have a number of beaches, even more sandy beaches can be found at Guardamar del Segura
Going back to the border briefly and following it northwards you come to Campoverde (also called El Pinar de Campoverde). At the back of the coastal resorts are towns such as Los Montesinos and San Miguel de Salinas. Heading towards Orihuela you will find a number of small villages and towns such as Hurchillo, Rebate, Beniel and Torremendo. To the north and east of Orihuela yet more villages such as Benferri, La Murada, Redovan, Albatera, San Carlos, Cox, San Isidro and Callosa de Segura. To the south of Callosa de Segura are even more Vega Baja villages like San Bartolome, Rafal, Benejuzar, Bigastro and Jacarilla, where the lovely Palacio de Jacarilla attracts plenty of visitors.
On the western side of the AP-7 motorway there are a couple of largish Costa Blanca towns in the form of Almoradi and Algorfa, just outside Algorfa there is a fabulous golf course called the La Finca Golf Course where golfing fans will no doubt want to head for a round or two. To the east of the AP-7 are the towns and villages of Catral, Formentera del Segura, Daya Nueva, El Realengo and Dolores, you will also find the El Hondo nature reserve and area of great natural beauty and an important habitat for wildlife. Surrounding villages include San Fulgencio, Daya Vieja, Benijofar, Rojales and Quesada. This brings us back to the coast where resorts such as Guardamar del Segura, La Mata and La Marina boast some fine sandy beaches. Heading north towards Alicante gets you to Santa Pola, Gran Alacant and Los Arenales del Sol.
Heading inland and northwards once again we get back to the border with Murcia and the town of Pinoso is just on the Alicante side of the border, north of Pinoso and on the other side of the border is Yecla. East of Pinoso is the Hondon Valley and some other small towns such as La Romana, Hondon de las Nieves and Hondon de los Frailes. More weather is featured on the Costa Blanca North page.
